New Jersey Uses Used Slogan
Taglines are a very popular way to remind potential travellers what a specific place has to offer, but New Jersey is dropping its second attempt at a tagline in less than a year: "Come See For Yourself".
The reason for the change is that West Virginia and other states have previously used "Come See For Yourself", and are now dealing with legal issues that led them to scrap the slogan.
"We are proceeding without the slogan. We will revisit the next steps at the end of the year," Karen Wolfe, a spokeswoman for the state Commerce, Economic Growth and Tourism Commission, told The Press of Atlantic City for Saturday editions."Come See For Yourself" was the top choice among more than 11,000 telephone and online votes cast by residents for five finalist entries in the contest. Codey unveiled the slogan with great fanfare in January, saying the Garden State's catch phrase "should hint at our true beauty."
I don't know about anyone else, but this slogan thing has me laughing so hard. Is it difficult to make sure a slogan has not been previously used? Also, does a slogan really make anyone want to visit a certain location?
