The Delicious Cuisine of Puerto Rico

For the food lovers out there who want to base their travels around their love of fine dining, the next destination you are going to want to head to is Puerto Rico.

The cuisine in Puerto Rico is probably not what you would expect. Rather than just one type of food, the cuisine here is a perfect combination of the best of Spain, Africa, Taino, and America, all on one plate.

There are various different areas in Puerto Rico you will want to travel around to, including San Juan, Aguada, Aguadilla, Anasco, Boqueron, Cabo Rojo, Carolina, and Ceiba.

When it comes to the main courses that are offered in Puerto Rico, one of the most delicious dishes you may be served is the Lechon, which is a whole pig that is cooked on a spit which is a wooden Chinese box.

The meat is very juicy and tender inside but the skin is crispy. People come from all around the world just to sample authentic Lechon, and you should try it for yourself.

We have not even begun to talk about the desserts yet. If you have a sweet tooth, you are really going to love this next part.

Puerto Rico travel is really worth it for the sinful desserts alone. Make sure that you take a week off your diet when you visit, that's for sure.

Desserts here are usually based upon the amazing tropical fruit and vegetables that are grown and readily available in the area.

The pumpkin, one of the most commonly used vegetables in Puerto Rico, is often included in dessert recipes, and is used to make the base for the traditional Puerto Rican cake.

As you can see, there is certainly no lacking in terms of variety when it comes to the Puerto Rican cuisine, and if nothing else, the trip here will be worthwhile just for the food alone.
