Super cheap new way to travel between NYC, DC and Philly

Europe may have their next-to-free no-frills airlines, but we now have a city-to-city bus line offering tickets as low as $1.00 -- and I'd hardly call them no frills. Bolt Bus offers free wi-fi, more leg room than traditional buses, plug in points for your laptop and a loyalty program that gives you one free ticket for every eight one-way rides you take.

Only one seat per trip is available at at the $1 tag -- prices increase based on demand. But book early online and you may just nab that buck ticket. You fare entitles you to bring one bag to check underneath the bus, and two carry on bags (such as a purse or small backpack).

Bolt Bus operates between DC and NYC right now, and will soon add Philadelphia, with Boston to come later.

Bolt is operated by Greyhound. I haven't ridden Greyhound since college (and the experience at the Knoxville station changing buses in the middle of the night was -- we'll say "colorful"), but with airport hassles and the price of gas, I'd be very tempted to try Bolt if I had a chance to travel between two of these East Coast cities.
