Spring Break: Cancun or Daytona Beach?

spring break

Spring break is only a few weeks away and that means teenagers from all over the world will be flocking to Cancun and Daytona Beach in search of hardcore fun-in-the-sun and all-night partying. Spring break will 'officially' get underway from March 12-31 this year.

Daytona Beach is a legendary hotspot with over 23 miles of sandy beach and for the budget-minded spring-breaker, it is probably the most accessible and economical option. However, in recent years Daytona has been focusing less on the spring break crowd and more on fostering its image as a motorsports mecca with the annual NASCAR Daytona 500 event attracting over 200,000 visitors in early February. While Daytona still gets an influx of spring breakers, it has lost some of its popularity to places like Panama City and Cancun.

Cancun is now undeniably the 'king' of spring break destinations. With over 4 million visitors annually and over 24,000 hotel rooms - Cancun is one massive party come March. While Cancun is located at the tip of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, it feels a lot like downtown America. There are 3 Wal-Marts in downtown Cancun alone, and no shortage of typical American stores like Office Depot, Starbucks, Sears, Sam's Club, Costco, Blockbuster and Hard Rock Cafe to name just a few. With over 190 flights to Cancun landing daily, getting a ticket is usually not a problem.

No matter where you go for Spring Break, the most important thing to remember is 'party hard - party safe'.
